“Where no man has gone before”, well not many alive and even fewer dead
“Where no man has gone before” was a phrase made poplar in the title sequence of the original 1966-1969 Star Trek. Gene Roddenberry, the creator of the original Star Trek TV series was not surprisingly obsessed with space. So, it was very fitting that he requested a space burial in his Will. Gene died in 1991 and his final remains traveled into space in 1997. His wife Majel, who played Christine Chapel in the original Star Trek, shared her husband’s love of space and also elected for a space burial.
Although this is a rather extreme request upon death, it is important, as a part of an Estate Plan, that your clients wishes are made known and clearly outlined. It might be as simple as the music choice at the funeral service, or donations in replace of flower. Or maybe, like Gene and Majel, they may prefer to detail where they want their ashes to be scattered. If its’s not written down and easy to locate however, it may not happen.
This is where Yodal is a perfect Estate Planning tool. Your client can include specific details around their wishes for their funeral, spreading their ashes, as well as who is to receive special gifts, right down to who gets the fur baby. They can readily update and add to these ‘wishes’ over time. All in the one spot along with their Will and other Estate Planning documents.
